Choreographer Jane Comfort and her company premiere their new work, "Persephone," a dance/theater piece performed in a setting of bamboo, metal and neon sculpture to a score based on Javanese gamelan musical structures. The piece explores the myth of Persephone, whose beauty is so admired by Hades that he captures her and forces her to live with him in the underworld. According to The New York Times, “The guiding spirits behind the theater of mixed forms are often choreographers . . . Jane Comfort is one of the most fertile minds of this genre.”
